There’s something very special about being invited back to cater an event for the second year running. It’s not just about returning to a familiar location, but about being trusted again to play a part in creating memories for another milestone celebration. That’s exactly how we felt heading to Shell Island this week with Hog Roast Gwynedd, ready to serve an even bigger crowd than last year.
When we first catered here, we had around 80 guests to look after. This time, the numbers had risen to 100 – and the energy of the day matched the growth. With friends and families gathered together by the coast, the atmosphere was full of excitement and anticipation. Shell Island always delivers with its incredible backdrop, and once again it created the perfect setting for a day of laughter, connection, and celebration.
Our service is about so much more than simply bringing food to the table. It’s about ensuring the hosts can relax, the guests feel looked after, and that everything flows smoothly from start to finish. With Hog Roast Gwynedd, we arrived early, set up with ease, and made sure that every detail was ready long before the first guest arrived. By the time people began to gather, everything was perfectly in place.
The menu was one of our Southern Slow Roast feasts – an indulgent spread that matched the celebratory atmosphere. Guests chose from tender beef brisket, sticky ribs, and minted lamb, with hearty sides of coleslaw, mac and cheese, and corn on the cob. For those preferring a veggie option, the grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers were a hit, while fries and sausages were added to give the spread even more variety. With soft bread rolls and wraps on hand, plus bamboo crockery to make serving simple and stylish, the whole service ran seamlessly.
What really stood out, though, was the way everyone came together to enjoy the occasion. Guests mingled, laughed, and shared stories while we kept the service moving smoothly in the background. The hosts were able to be part of the fun without worrying about a thing, and by the end of the evening, the warm words of thanks made all the effort worthwhile.
Returning to Shell Island for a second year was a genuine pleasure, and catering with Hog Roast Gwynedd once again reminded us why we love what we do. It’s not just about the menu – it’s about the people, the place, and the privilege of being part of something truly memorable. We left with full hearts (and a few sandy shoes!) already looking forward to the next time.
