When MKM Building Supplies, the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchants, asked Hog Roast Llanymynech to provide the catering for their Family Fun Day recently, that would mean travelling to another country! It was only to England, however, to Ketley Business Park in Telford, which is just over 30 miles away from our base in Wales. We actually cater many events further afield like on this occasion, as well as locally, which goes to show that word of mouth recommendations really can go far!
For this corporate event on a Saturday daytime, covering both morning and afternoon, Shabana at MKM Building Supplies booked Hog Roast Llanymynech and asked us to roast a hog so that we could make our famous pigs in buns, also known as hog roast rolls. Early morning, we took along a slightly larger than average sized hog that would easily feed 
around 100 people, and prepared the meat by scoring it all over, covering it in water and then smothering it in lots of salt. The salt makes that crunchy, crispy crackling that everyone loves. Our hog roast machines make light work of cooking meat like this, so once we had prepared it, we turned the machine on, set a low temperature and it was away. All we then had to do was watch over it for the next few hours to ensure it cooked through, making the insides all tender and succulent and the outside into perfect crackling, before carving it and filling the buns.
While we checked on the hog and chatted with the friendly staff and customers, the sun shone down on us all. A bouncy castle was inflated, kids (and even plenty of adults) had their faces painted, people were enjoying candy floss and mini golf and it looked like everyone was having a whale of a time.
Later that morning, it was time for Hog Roast Llanymynech to slice all the lovely crackling off the hog, cut into the juicy meat and then fill fresh bread rolls with bits of both, as well as our own homemade apple sauce and stuffing. We filled lots of hungry tummies and by 2.30pm, the hog had been stripped clean.
