With autumn approaching, the sunshine is slowly leaving and being replaced by rain showers and darker evenings. This means that we can no longer rely on the sun to be around, and Hog Roast Llay needs to plan to provide our catering in any weather conditions. Luckily, Hog Roast Llay’s wedding menus taste just as good on a rainy day as on a sunny day, giving you one less thing to worry about!
Ruby and Sam had their wedding organised for September, hoping that the good weather would stretch to allow them to enjoy time outside on their big day. Unfortunately, we can’t always rely on the sunshine, so it is important to have a backup plan just in case. For the reception, the couple hired a marquee for the guests to relax and enjoy the dinner, which also acted as a shelter if necessary. The marquee had plenty of room for the guests to chat, drink, and dance, making it the ideal venue for the event! For the catering, our manager Brad was hired to provide a classic hog roast, followed by a dessert course. This was the ideal menu for the occasion and had plenty for every guest to enjoy.
On the day of the wedding, the Hog Roast Llay team arrived at the venue and began setting up our catering station outside. We came prepared and set up a canopy over our station to protect us from the grey clouds in case of rain. For the main course, we served slow-roasted pork served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, crispy crackling, homemade chips, and a green leaf salad. This was a varied and delicious course with plenty for the guests to enjoy.
For the dessert, we served profiteroles and chocolate torte, allowing the guests to choose the dish that they prefer. This was a great way to end the meal and our catering was a great addition to this rainy reception.
