The clocks have gone back, and the nights are drawing in, autumn is well and truly underway! Despite the cold weather there is still plenty to look forward too including Halloween and bonfire nights as excuses to wrap up warm and get together with family and friends.
This week Hog Roast Ffestiniog were booked to cater at a mash up Halloween/birthday party. Of course, fancy dress was stipulated due to it being Halloween but with a twist… everyone had to dress up as something beginning with the letter ‘J’ as tribute to the birthday girl Josie. Josie had also warned anyone who didn’t dress up that there would be a forfeit of having their face painted at the party, so people were sure to go all out with their costumes!
We arrived nice and early and got to work setting up our Halloween hog roast. We would be serving the nights meal of slow roasted hog in freshly baked rolls along with helpings of our delicious secret recipe applesauce and crunchy crackling that we pile on top. Additionally, we also had lots of seasonal vegetables and our Hog Roast Ffestiniog chef had been given the special request to make some mulled wine for the evening to keep the guest warm on what was sure to be a chilly night.
The guests showed up right on time and the whole Hog Roast Ffestiniog were so impressed with everyone’s costumes. There were jaguars, jelly fish, one person dressed as Jeremy Kyle and there was even someone inventive enough to make a jelly bean costume! We were slightly disappointed no one had to face the forfeit, but Josie was just delighted everyone had dressed up.
We served our Hog Roast Ffestiniog to the guests and all the food was met with happy, satisfied faces. There’s nothing better than a hog roast roll to warm you up on a cold night in our opinion!
