Hog Roast CarmelHog Roast Carmel had a hire job last Friday. A hire is when the client wants a Hog Roast without the need of a chef to carve and serve it. It is a very common contract with venues such as pubs and hotels who already have chefs in place. The usual hire involves a Hog Master machine being dropped off with a full gas bottle, and fresh pig however, last Friday involved much more. Hog Roast Carmel dropped off everything from the whole 56kg pig, sage and onion stuffing, selection of bread rolls and wraps as well as a variety of sauces with plates, and napkins. Everything was covered to ensure an easy and delicious meal. 

Hog Roast Carmel’s catering manager Brad had been liaising with the lovely Marilyn. Prior to the event Hog Roast Carmel ensured there was good communication between the two and it was agreed that Brad would drop off everything at 8am in the morning ready for a 9pm serve. 

A prompt 8am arrival meant that Hog Roast Carmel could unload everything and help Marilyn set everything up. Catering manager Brad had already discussed that he would light the machine before he left. He turned it on at 9am so that the pig would have 11 and a half hours to cook before it needed to be lifted up and carved. Being cooked on low for that length of time guaranteed Maria seriously tender and juicy pork for her guests. Brad had let Marilyn in on a Hog Roast Carmel delicacy when it came to the stuffing – pop it around the pig in the juices. It produces such as a flavoursome taste and also gives it a medieval vibe. Even though Brad had popped it on for Maria, he went through how to light machine in case of any unforeseen issues.  He also explained how to lift the pig onto the serving bars when Marilyn and her guests were ready to tuck in. Thankfully Marilyn’s nephew was a chef and had worked doing Hog Roasts for a local Butcher shop in his teens so knew what he was doing! 

The following morning Brad collected the machine and gas bottle, hearing all about the success of the hog roast and how well it went down with all the guests. Marilyn claimed she was thrilled from start to finish with her experience with Hog Roast Carmel and looks forward to using them for future events.
